During the Edo period (1603-1868) Narai-juku was one the most prosperous of the 69 post towns along the Nakasendo trail. Located at the midpoint between Kyoto and Edo (now known as Tokyo) it attracted a large flow of travellers, and its many inns and shops earned it the nickname "Narai of a thousand houses.” 

To us, this town symbolises perseverance and exploration. A time where people had to move on forward into the unknowns.

We are inspired by locations that hold historical integrity. A town that’s still as beautiful today as it was 250 years ago.
