The initial inspiration for the Reversible Raw Denim Tanker was the MA-1 Bomber Jacket. 

The MA1 was first made for the American WWII fighter pilots. The reversibility of these jackets was crucial for downed or lost airmen hoping for rescue.

The most common colour for an MA-1 Bomber is a military green with a bright orange inner lining. 

Pilots could reverse the jacket and reveal the bright high-visibility anti-camouflage orange as a locating-aid for their searchers.

However, the main muse used to create this reversible jacket is rather surprising. It’s everyone's favourite childhood author… Roald Dahl.

We had recently read Roald Dahl's biography ‘Flying Solo,' and were completely taken aback when we learnt about our favourite childhood authors' time in the Royal Air Force. 

Something really captured our imaginations about a pilot with a few months of training, flying a single seated plane over nothing but the vast blue ocean.

 We were drawn to the courage of these pilots who know they could be shot down at any moment.

Although the majority of us will not have to wear this jacket flying a plane, we do have to face some bitter winters. 

So we added a 1600gsm cotton fill to the jacket and a nylon diamond pattern to ensure it retains the body’s heat. 

It also features a 14oz raw denim side. This really is two different jackets in one.

This is the first reversible raw denim tanker jacket ever created. It is also the first garment we have ever released with our logo shown. The monochromatic logo is embroidered on the right chest pocket.
